Human Resources Manager - Ghana


Description:
Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd., one of the world's largest gold mining organizations, is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced persons for the following positions at its Accra and Ahafo operations.Human Resources Manager :-This is a Two-in-a-Box position. The selected candidate will work closely with the current incumbent for an eighteen month period assisting in the management of day-to day work, developing policies in conjunction with Accra, Ahafo and Akyem HR staff and act as Project Manager for critical projects and initiatives as they arise.Essential Duties:-§ Develop and manage Compensation and Benefits Programs and Products for all Ghanaian employees. Review and obtain approval of same with HR Ghana Director. Implement at Accra and act as implementation consultant with Senior. HR personnel at other sites.§ Manage employment for all site positions including local employment of the surrounding communities in line with Newmont Social License to operate§ Work closely with HR/IT (Ellipse, People Management Center) in bringing up new systems and integrating them into Accra workflow and acting as consultant to HR at other sites as needed. Manage site Ellipse Human Resources Information System to ensure accurate recording and reporting of all employee related data.§ Manage site Industrial Relations to ensure a systematic approach is in place to address employees’ issues and concerns as early as possible to mitigate the risk of poor performance and/or industrial relations issues.§ Provide advice and guidance to site department managers on National salary and benefits administration to ensure consistency within Newmont Ghana in terms of internal equity, external competitiveness and cost effectiveness.§ Provide recommendation to Accra management on various activities designed to promote and maintain high level of employee morale.§ Ensure, that all in-Ghana expatriate employees and dependents’ documentation are in full compliance with the Ghanaian Government requirements.§ Assist department managers with manpower planning to include scheduling, appointment of new hires, promotion and transfer of existing employees.§ Develop and monitor Shared HR budget and take necessary corrective actions to ensure HR department activities are within the approved budget. Forecast, trend and propose enhancements as required.§ Establish and maintain harmonious relationship with all departments to ensure effective exchange of information relating to recruitment, termination, redundancy, salary and benefits.§ Assist in the development of succession planning for selected national employees by facilitating access to appropriate training and skills development.§ Implement the performance management program to ensure timely review and consistency of review across departments.

Qualifications:
Technical Skills, Education/Training & Experience:- § Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resource Development (HRD) and/or a related field is required. MBA or equivalent is preferred. § Minimum 10 years experience in HR management in a large multi national organization § Strong analytical, organization, communication and inter personal skills § Strong understanding of local cultural issues of a developing country § Experience with program implementation and change management. § Coaching skills and experience with proven ability to work effectively with, and influence, management. § Strong change leadership facilitation, training and building commitment skills. § Ability to identify problems, make decisions, create solutions, and take action.
