
Our client is a much respected multinational manufacturer of heavy mobile mining equipment which it supplies and maintains at mine sites around the world. This position is located at a major gold mine in Ghana, West Africa.
You'll be responsible for up to four teams of five skilled workers (mechanical, electrical and welders) dedicated to maintenance and repair work on heavy excavators and shovels. Liaising with maintenance planners you'll lead and manage the teams to achieve the targets you'll set for them individually and as a group. You'll enforce all safety requirements and procedures and ensure that equipment is being repaired in line with the best mechanical and electrical techniques and standards.
You'll need relevant trade level qualifications and ideally you'll have at least 5 years experience in heavy duty equipment mechanics. You'll be able to read mechanical, hydraulic and electrical drawings and schematics and you may even have some knowledge of electronics. You'll be able to write technical job reports and have basic computer knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Good leadership skills and the ability to get people working as a team are important as is fluency in written and spoken English.
You'll work a 14 weeks on, 3 off FIFO roster with generous travel allowances. A very competitive salary will be negotiated and it is tax paid. Health care, pension plan and meals are provided. The location has seasonally high temperatures so a good standard of physical fitness is required.
