Description
The Environment division of the SNC-Lavalin Group is currently seeking a Mission Leader for a major Social and Environmental Impact Assessment associated with a project in west Africa. SNC-Lavalin Environment Inc. (SLEI) comprises over 600 professionals at business locations across Canada. The Québec team is a dynamic, multidisciplinary group of 160 professionals.
Reporting to a Project Manager, the Mission Leader will be in charge of the technical and administrative coordination of a major social and environmental impact assessment in west Africa. The assessment includes a baseline characterization program involving extensive biophysical inventories and social surveys. The project has three components: a mine, a railway and a deepwater port.
Responsibilities:
· Act as the interface between the client and the on-site team
· Follow up with the Montreal-based project manager
· Draft the contracts for subcontractors
· Undertake logistical planning for on-site teams
· Ensure efficient implementation of logistics in conjunction with the logistician
· Perform general administration of the contract and on-site team
· Contribute to various technical and administrative reports
Requirements:
· Degree in biology, engineering or geography or other relevant training
· At least 15 years' experience in environmental assessment
· Capacity to manage major projects
· International experience, particularly in Africa
· Thorough knowledge of French and English
· Availability to work abroad
· Responsible, resourceful and autonomous
· Comfortable working on a multidisciplinary team
