GREENPEACE - AFRICA


GREENPEACE exists because this fragile earth deserves a voice. It needs solutions.

Our client, Greenpeace, is an independent global campaigning organisation that acts to change attitudesand behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace. Greenpeace is currentlysetting up an Africa office in Johannesburg, South Africa and two West and Central African countries andseeks to appoint some key staff members.

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
The Communications Manager will be responsible for: Developing and implementing communicationstrategies and creative concepts for high potential communications projects integrated with fundraisingactivities and raising the Greenpeace Africa profile; serving as Greenpeace Africa spokesperson onGreenpeace programs and activities, as well as on breaking news events and special features; developingpotential story ideas and communication projects in order to enhance the image of Greenpeace Africa andits campaigns with media and the general public.Candidates must have a Masters degree or equivalent in journalism or similar and at least 5 yearsprofessional experience in PR, a press office, agency or other media relations environment. A provensuccess record in campaign based PR and branding and experience in working in an internationalenvironment as well as coordination of rollouts across global markets is also essential. Fully bi-lingualFrench/English is required and Portuguese would be useful.

FINANCIAL MANAGER
The Financial Manager will be responsible for: overseeing the finances in the three African offices andcoordinating transfers and reconciliations with the international office in Amsterdam; preparation of allbudgets and finance related activities; overseeing/performing all daily financial activities in 3 countries;preparing monthly and quarterly financial management reports; establishing financial procedures; assistingin aspects of HR and administrative operations.Candidates must have a NQF4 Tertiary qualification and a degree or diploma in accounting and 5 yearsrelevant experience. Familiarity with foreign reconciliations and reporting, knowledge of Statutory Rules,laws and requirements in South Africa and a strong knowledge of Excel is also essential. Knowledge ofFrench would be an advantage.

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
The Executive Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Executive Director (ED) in all aspects of thework. Key areas of responsibility will include: communications including correspondence for the ED, takingminutes and assisting in internal in-country campaigns; administration especially report tracking, officemanagement, creating and maintaining a contacts database and managing diary and travel arrangementsfor the ED; liaison with the senior management team, senior staff and heads of campaigns.Candidates must have extensive experience as a PA/Administrator, preferably in an international NGOenvironment. Fluency in English and French, excellent written and verbal communications skills, strongorganisational abilities and a high level of computer literacy are essential.
