Requirements:
Barrick Africa is the largest gold mining company in Tanzania with three operating gold mines, Bulyanhulu, North Mara and Tulawaka and the Buzwagi Project. Barrick Africa also includes joint venture partnerships in the Kabanga Nickel Project in Tanzania and the Sedibelo Platinum Project in South Africa.
Buzwagi Project in Tanzania is currently searching for an experienced Mechanical Foreman for the Process Plant. Buzwagi is under construction and plant commissioning will start in early 2009. This position is required to provide leadership to the Process Plant Mechanical Maintenance Team during construction, commissioning and operation. This position reports to the Process Maintenance Superintendent.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed worldwide industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.
Manage Succession Planning within the Mechanical Maintenance Team to ensure that Barrick achieves development of Tanzanian employees to assume positions of increasing accountability. Development of Mechanical Supervisors, Mechanical Fitters and Boilermakers to positions of increasing accountability is a Key Performance Indicator.
Lead the Buzwagi Process Maintenance Team during construction, commissioning and operation to ensure agreed targets are achieved, within corporate safety and environmental guidelines in the areas of:
Mill Availability, Throughput and Recovery; and Process Operating & Maintenance Costs and Capital Expenditure.
Develop and implement Oracle maintenance management modules as an effective Computerised Maintenance Management System.
Develop and implement procedures for identification, approval, planning, scheduling, execution and recording of Process Plant maintenance work that are in alignment with Barrick guidelines and best practice.
Implement and monitor maintenance budgeting and cost control systems. Maintenance cost per tonne is a key performance indicator.
Develop long-term mechanical maintenance plan.
Manage workshop facilities.
Develop Process Maintenance Department and maintenance systems in readiness for commissioning and operation of Buzwagi Process Plant.
Provide technical input into development of training packages.
Provide ongoing training, mentoring and employee performance management, to develop and maintain a safe, competent and results orientated Mechanical Maintenance Team.
Qualification:
Trade qualified, mechanical discipline; or
B. Mechanical Engineering / Associate Diploma or similar.
Experience:
Minimum of 7 years experience in process plant maintenance including experience in gold plants, with at least 3 years in leadership role.
Experience in systematic coaching and training of employees in developing country is essential.
Experience in computerized maintenance systems, eg Oracle, is essential.
Previous commissioning experience is advantageous.
